Frequently Asked Questions
It is my first massage. What should I expect?
-After filling out your intake form, your therapist will go over any requests and/or concerns. (A good massage therapist will always be considerate of any concerns you may have!). The massage will take place in a private room, on a massage table specifically designed for bodywork. The therapist will leave the room and let you get undressed to your comfort level (most clients are nude or in underwear only), and get under the top sheet. You will be properly covered at all times. Your therapist will perform a massage tailored to your needs and with the pressure you requested.
After the massage, it is normal to feel lightheaded. Take your time getting up from the table. Massage increases circulation, so after your session, it is very important to drink plenty of room temperature water.
Remember, this session is completely about YOU. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, or that the pressure is too light or too firm, please let your therapist know!

What is a Swedish massage? What is a Deep Tissue massage? And how do I know what I need?
-Traditional Swedish Massage uses five main strokes (effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, vibration) and many variations, to achieve its relaxing and healing effects. Many therapists use a variety of techniques. Swedish massage traditionally uses oil or lotion to assist with the long, flowing strokes.
Deep Tissue massage is typically done with firmer pressure, and cross fiber movements. Myofascial release techniques and trigger point therapy are often used to locate and alleviate trouble spots. Less lotion is used, and focused attention is given to certain muscles that need the most work. Sometimes the therapist will need to talk with you during the session to discuss pain scales and comfort levels.
While some people find deep tissue relaxing, those who are very sensitive may find it too intense. For those looking for relaxation, Swedish is recommended. For those looking for pain relief, Deep Tissue may be the better option.
How often should I get a massage?
-Massage, just like any other wellness practice such as exercise or mindful eating, is an excellent addition to your routine. It is recommended that you receive a massage once or twice a month at minimum. Regular massages keep your body and mind healthy, plus, it feels GREAT! Check out these benefits of massage.
